Who is B.K.S Iyengar
B.K.S Iyengar 12.14.1918 - 08.20.2014.
Author of Light on Yoga and many other books, was born in India, on December 14, 1918. He was a legendary master of Yoga for which the system of Iyengar Yoga was named after.
Many people who practice different types of Yoga are unaware of the tremendous influence he had on the subject of Yoga, no matter what system you practice.
Iyengar Yoga demands that the practitioner become totally involved in the practice of asanas; engaging the brain, heart, and body, as well as working to achieve alignment not only of the different structures of the physical body (joints, bones, muscles), but also of the different organizations of the human being: the consciousness, intellect, mind, and the energy body.
From his own dedicated practice, Iyengar brought about a tremendous body of knowledge to guide and benefit the practice of the raw beginner, advanced practitioner, older practitioners, and those with health problems to bring about sound health and balance not only on the physical level but on every aspect of our life.
Beautiful and inspiring video of B.K.S Iyengar when he was 59 years old.
