The Pregnant Women and Yoga
The cells divide and re-divide, and by the sixth week, all the essential structures of the body are present in a primitive but recognizable form…
Pregnancy is one of the greatest experiences in a woman’s life. It brings with it the wind of change. Pregnancy is a normal physiological condition, not a pathological one and should normally sail smoothly, without any problem. The physical and mental state of a pregnant woman goes through extensive changes. Quite literally everything changes!!! Shifts in body image, bodily hormones, attitude toward cultural pressures and expectations all combine to make pregnancy a sensitive time.Yoga practice that is adjusted to the specific needs of the pregnant woman helps the future mother maintain a healthy stable mind and body during her pregnancy and the changes that she is going through. Simultaneously, yoga practice provides a fertile soil for the physical, mental and spiritual growth of the newborn.
We recommend that women begin to practice asanas and pranayama before conception, during her pregnancy, and after delivery for sustained benefits.
